Position Summary:
The Fish and Game Warden plays a crucial role in the protection and conservation of natural resources, wildlife, and aquatic ecosystems. This position focuses on enforcing laws and regulations related to hunting, fishing, boating, and other outdoor recreational activities. As a Fish and Game Warden, you will be responsible for ensuring the compliance of individuals and organizations with applicable federal, state, and local laws governing natural resource management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Enforce laws and regulations pertaining to hunting, fishing, boating, and wildlife conservation.
2. Conduct patrols in assigned areas to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
3. Investigate reports of illegal activities, such as poaching, illegal fishing, and smuggling of wildlife.
4. Educate the public about wildlife conservation, outdoor safety, and applicable laws and regulations.
5. Conduct inspections of commercial fishing and hunting operations to ensure compliance with licensing and permit requirements.
6. Collect evidence and testify in court proceedings related to violations of natural resource laws.
7. Issue citations, warnings, and fines to individuals found in violation of applicable laws and regulations.
8. Perform search and rescue operations in remote areas, responding to distress calls from outdoor enthusiasts.
9. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies, conservation organizations, and government entities to promote effective natural resource management.
10. Keep accurate and detailed records of enforcement activities, including incident reports, citations, and arrests.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Criminal Justice, Wildlife Management, or a related discipline.
2. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
3. Excellent knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to fish and game management.
4. Strong ability to interpret and apply complex laws and regulations.
5. Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
6. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
7. Ability to handle confrontational situations calmly and professionally.
8. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
9. Sound judgment and ethical conduct to enforce laws impartially.
10. Proficiency in using standard office software and equipment.
11. Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
12. Demonstrated commitment to wildlife conservation and natural resource management.
